Meet the Team

Our Business Model

Pressure & Hassle Free

You won’t find us pushing you to do something you do not want to do. You won’t find us pushing your horse into doing something they don’t want to do. We will discuss what you want to do, I’ll brief you on the behavioral implications of it, and then we will move forward.

We are not going to reach out non-stop about scheduling more sessions. We aren’t here to hassle you. You reach out at your own pace, if and when you are ready, and we will go from there.

Open Door Policy

We know that there are a lot of trainers out there and there are a lot of methods. If you want to work with us, we would be thrilled to work with you. However, we want it to be clear that continuity of services is not required for you to return as a client. We have an open door policy. If you stop services for any time for any reason that is fine! Our door will be open if or when you would like to return as a client.

We don’t hold grudges. We want to help. Our door will always be open!

  • MS, BCBA, LBS

Beck, an avid equestrian, has been riding horses since 2001, and began training in 2011. After completing their MS in Applied Behavior Analysis in September of 2020 at Drexel University, Beck attained national certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board © and their state license through the PA State Board of Medicine in the summer of 2021. Through combining her MS and her equine experience, they created Shadowed Behavior, LLC to bring a new light to horse training through the lens of applied behavior analysis.

Beck is excited to continue their learning on behavior analysis and conduct research as they begin their PhD in ABA in January of 2025!

  • “Shadow”

When I met Shadow in 2010, I watched him back off the trailer and rear straight up. When he was ridden he would bolt, buck, rear (sometimes flipping all the way over), and oftentimes, when someone inevitably fell off of him, he would strike out at them. All in all – there were some improvements to be made.

Through behavior analysis, I was able to work with Shadow through science and ethics, and recognize that all his behaviors were communication. I was able to decrease the interfering behaviors and increase the ideal/replacement behaviors. That horse that was deemed aggressive and dangerous was used to teach students how to ride and was used in therapeutic lessons - but more importantly, he was happy, healthy, and more confident.

Shadow passed due to health complications in November of 2022 after 13 years as a team. After his death, I was unsure if it was best to continue Shadowed Behavior. But, I thought about all the other “Shadows” out there. Another horse that is labeled dangerous or aggressive when – in reality – they are scared, or in pain. When they just need some help to get them to become their best selves.

If Shadowed Behavior can offer that help, we want to – whole heartedly. Without question or hesitation – we want to help.

We are proud to continue services in memory of Shadow.
